Four of our orchestra members were invited to join the Washington Archdiocesan Music Teachers Council 2012 High School Honors Orchestra. Elisabeth DeMarco, cello, Annette Folgueras, viola, Chris Folgueras, viola, and Elizabeth Mendoza, cello, were selected among the many musicians selected for the orchestra based on their auditions last month. The 2012 Honors Orchestra, which will be conducted this year by David Levin, will rehearse for three days in late March and give a concert on Saturday, March 31 at 6:00pm at Northwestern High School in Hyattsville. GC senior, Doug Lavigne, was also invited to join the orchestra on clarinet for a couple of full orchestra selections based on his participation in last year's WAMTC Honor Band.

Meredith Tracy was one of 25 students invited to participate in the Mid-Atlantic High School Flute Choir sponsored by the Flute Society of Washington. This is an annual competition in which hundreds of applicants audition from all over the Mid-Atlantic region. The group will give a performance on February 19, 2012 at the Flute Society of Washington's Annual "Flute Fair" in Reston, VA. Congratulations Meredith!

Chris and Annette Folgueras were selected as members of the 2011 - 2012 Maryland All-State Orchestra viola section following a rigorous audition process two weekends ago. Hundreds of students from all over the state auditioned for a position in the viola section, but only 21 were selected.  We are extremely proud that they will represent GC in this very prestigious group.
